Inserting slides in PowerPoint – how to do it and the different layouts

Inserting slides in PowerPoint – how do I do this? Watch the video to learn more

Inserting slides in PowerPoint: PowerPoint iconThis week’s hint and tip is about how to insert slides in PowerPoint into your presentations. This is on our Basic PowerPoint training course and it covers where the options are found and how to insert them. We are going to go through it now below. Previously we created a hint and tip post going into detail on how to insert a slide into your presentation. However this week we are doing a video hint and tip for those who prefer to learn via video!

Where is the new slide option found?

The new slide option can be found in two places within PowerPoint. Firstly it can be found on the Home Tab under the slides section of the ribbon. Then the second place it can be found is on the Insert Tab, again under the slides section of the ribbon.

Inserting a new slide

This can be done by clicking on the new slide button on either the Home or Insert tab. The main part of the button will insert the slide layout that was last inserted. The bottom part of the button will allow you to select the slide layout you wish to insert into your presentation.

Changing the slide layout

You are able to change the layout of the slide once you have inserted it. To do this, go to the Home tab and click on the layout button which is found next to the new slide button. This will allow you to select the slide layout you wish to change your slide to.

The video below shows you how to insert a new slide and also change the layout of an existing slide. Both of these are useful to know when creating your PowerPoint presentations.

Take a look below at the video to find out more and then try it out on your own computer!

We hope you have enjoyed this hint and tip on inserting slides in PowerPoint. Why not take a look at our previous one on inserting text boxes in your PowerPoint presentations?
